ABSU Regains Full Accreditation for Medicine and Surgery. Details are as follows:
Abia State University (ABSU) has regained full accreditation for its Medicine and Surgery program, along with Nursing Science, Optometry, Biochemistry, French, Sociology, and Business Education, after undergoing an accreditation exercise in December 2022.
This follows the disallowance of ABSU’s Medicine and Surgery program in 2021 by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu expressed delight at the restoration of the course’s full accreditation and the university’s 100% score for the six other courses presented for accreditation.
He congratulated the Governing Council, management, and the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Onyemachi Ogbulu, along with professors at the various faculties for the achievement.
The governor also promised to continue supporting and congratulated students who wish to study Medicine and Surgery at ABSU.
In response, Prof. Ogbulu thanked the governor for his “uncommon moral and financial support” in achieving the feat, describing him as a “consummate academic, cerebral administrator, and scholar-in-governance.”
