The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Prof. Florence Obi, has disclosed that the institution has been without a central library for over two years.
Speaking during a media briefing, the VC lamented the sorry state of the university’s library, which has left students and staff without access to a central repository of academic materials.
She noted that efforts were being made to address the issue and assured stakeholders that the library would be reopened soon.
Prof. Obi also called on well-meaning individuals and corporate organizations to support the university in its bid to restore the central library to its former glory.
She emphasized the importance of the library to the academic and research pursuits of the university community and urged all stakeholders to work towards its swift restoration.
It is hoped that with the necessary support, the University of Calabar will soon be able to provide its students and staff with a modern, fully equipped central library that meets the highest standards of academic excellence.
