UNIJOS Honours Retired ASUU Members. Details are as follows:
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at the University of Jos recognized 23 of its retired members for their dedicated service.
At the event held in Jos on Thursday, the union’s chairman, Associate Prof. Lazarus Maigoro, stated that it was the first time such an occasion had occurred in the chapter’s history.
Maigoro explained that the purpose of the ceremony was to show gratitude to their senior colleagues for their meritorious contributions to the university.
Additionally, the event was an opportunity to give thanks to God for their lives and years of service.
Maigoro emphasized that this recognition ceremony was a new tradition that the chapter intends to repeat annually.
He believed that acknowledging the achievements of former colleagues would inspire current members to work harder.
During the ceremony, Prof. Patricia Lar chaired the event and praised ASUU for organizing it.
She encouraged the union to continue such initiatives in the future.
Prof. Gray Ejikeme, who retired as Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration in the institution, expressed appreciation for the union’s recognition of their service.
